  Sophia Catherine Corkum Barkhouse was a school teacher who taught at Lunenburg Academy. She won a competition as the top speller in Nova Scotia. Her charcoal drawing, as seen on Page 47 of the Barkhouse book, "100 Day Voyage to Freedom" is permanently displayed at the Ron. T.
